Numbers of Golfers Breaking 100 Debunked
In typical golf circles, I've heard the number of fellow golfers breaking 100 is at only 10% leaving an astonishing 90% that do not. It's hard to give credence to hear-say but I heard the number so often, it eventually started to ring true as some sort of urban legend. On my way to Florida this past weekend, for some much needed golf, I read the April, 2009 edition of Golf Digest.
The Golf Guru in the Q & A section debunked the popular statistic and threw some other numbers out there which do seemed to be more credible.
Of all golfers in America:
1) Over 50% have broken 100
2) 5% shoot in the 70's
3) 20% shoot in the 80's
4) 27% shoot in the 90's
There's a part of me that feels mis-led all these years. As in most things in life, I should have checked the facts before blindly following the blind.
Fairways, greens and everything in between.
