Woe is Woods
News broke that Tiger will have another operation on his knee effectively ending his season. The media outlets are using the news to stir up the debate on how the golf world will be without El Tigre. He brings excitement, passion, inspiration and money to the tour. All of these things will be diminished without him stalking the remaining tourneys.
Life will go on because let's face it. It's only a game, right? It is but the fact is that many golfers are inspired by him and his passion. When you lose something like that there can be a feeling of loss. A Tiger fan or not, the remaining golf season will be exciting. Maybe a first time major winner. That's always special to watch. We'll miss the extra special moments Tiger brings until next year, but it sounds like he'll be prowling the fairways better than ever in 09.
My final thought is what will Steve Williams be doing for the rest of his summer? Anyone need a caddy? My hand is up!

I would guess many casual fans who aren't serious golfers will probably lose some interest. TV viewership will likely sink for that demographic, although maybe they're not watching tournaments so much as watching news coverage of the tourneys. In which case it won't really affect viewership. Who knows, it'll be interesting to see what happens!
