Yards vs Meters

One meter is equal to 1.094 yards.  This isn't a calculation many of us need to worry about, but for the lucky souls that play golf abroad, it's important to know.  I had the fortune to play golf at a small muni in Cape Town, South Africa.  My playing partners decided to have a little fun with me since I didn't do any research before leaving the states.  I flew the first two greens before realizing their ruse.  I was surprised they were so ready to play for cash on the first tee, and it was apparent I was going to be on my own.  I eventually figured out some general numbers to use.  If you find yourself playing golf metric style, use these easy math figures to feel like you're back on home soil.

Easy Math:
50 Meters = 54.7 Yards
100 Meters = 109.4 Yards
150 Meters = 164.1 Yards
200 Meters = 218.8 Yards
250 Meters = 273.5 Yards
300 Meters = 328.2 Yards

Hi man. I have a really easy way to work out the conversion of Meters to Yards as I play on a course that is in Meters. If it is 185 meters it is 203 yards. All you do is simply add the the first digits of the distance to the distance. For example 185 plus 18= 203. Try it out on a actual converter and you will find it perfectly correct. Even if it is 249 meters it means its, 249 plus 24= 273 yards. This though an actual converter is 272.309 exactly.

Thank you Q man!  That is easy.  At some conversions it can be off a yard or two, but overall a great method to use.

My LR 800 is not measuring distance. Reticle comes up but won't display yardage. Battery is new. Any ideas?

I'm not an expert on the device, but two things it could be.  Clean the glass where your laser comes from, it might be dirty.  Other than that, it sounds as if the laser itself is the problem, you should bring it in.  Fairways and Greens!
